Bagerhat Satgombuj Mosque

Though Bangladesh is a small country, Bangladesh has three world heritage sites. The historic Shatgombuj Mosque at Bagerhat is one of them. The Shatgombuj Mosque is a 15th century Islamic edifice situated in the suburbs of Bagerhat, on the edge of the Sundarbans, some 175 km south west of Dhaka. But to reach here from Dhaka, one have to travel about (350-400) km. It is in the Khulna division.
It is an enormous Moghol architectural site covering a very large area (160 multiply 108) feet. The mosque is unique in that, it has sixty pillars, which support eighty one (81) exquisitely curved domes that have worn away with the passage of time. Every where there are sketch of ancient arts and the whole building representing the 15th century Turki architectural view. It is anticipated that, before 1459 a greatest devotee of Islam named Khan Jahan Ali established this mosque. He was also the founder of Bagerhat district.
If any body wants to come here, then it is very easy and also have the facility to stay night in the Bagerhat city. It is comfortable and also safe. Everybody should visit the Shatgombuj Mosque and be acknowledged himself with the proud of Bengali history.
