Environmental pollution: A fearful future for men’s fertility (part 3 – water pollution)

Dear friends, here is the third segment of the series - Environmental pollution: A fearful future for men’s fertility. Today’s topic is water pollution.

The story begins as a research group placed an interesting find - male fishes are facing less sperm count and even being feminized! Let me explain what I have learnt –

The study conducted by the Environment Agency, UK and financed by Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs, UK and the official Natural Environment Research Council, UK tested fishes from 10 rivers for 5 years. Those rivers include the river Lea, from where London takes much of its drinking water (Thus the water industry denied the result). Researchers have found that male fishes have received female characteristics in those rivers! The male fishes are changing their sex!!! In some cases all male fish have been feminized! And the percentage is m-o-r-e than 50! That means less than the half of the male fishes of those rivers is actually male and can participate in reproductive activity!!! Don’t be fishy about this fishy thing! Because, the fact which causes harm to male fishes can also do harm to male human beings .

Why those male fishes are loosing productivity? The clear answer is – because of water pollution. In this case the contaminating culprit is estrogen. Women use contraceptive pill. That contains estrogen. That estrogen comes out through their urine. Through sewage the urine, containing estrogen, reaches river. And finally powerful form of estrogen contaminates water bodies . The affected fishes couldn’t be cured even by putting them back into fresh water. It means that the status is permanent.

It is mentioned above that the polluted rivers includes rivers like the Lea which is a source of drinking water in London. Again, British men are among the group of people who are facing continues decline in sperm count over time world wide. The polluted water that causes male fishes to be transformed into “new female” fish is also blamed for the low sperm count of male human being . That’s the “MANO YA NA MANO” of the day !

Environmental pollution: A fearful future for men’s fertility (part 2 – air pollution)

Hi! I’m back to draw your attention towards the effect of air pollution – specially the horrifying effect on men’s fertility. This is the second segment of my previous post Environmental pollution: A fearful future for men’s fertility (part 1 – overview) .

A significant research, conducted by a group of Italian researchers, points out a cruel attack of air pollution, which was not taken seriously before. Their study says that air pollution causes low sperm count as well as low sperm movement and there by causes lower fertility potential. There is a high risk for sperm in reaching and penetrating an egg if sperm count and sperm movement are low. Again, because of lower quality sperm, total health condition of new born babies will be below the level of expectation.

It is also found that men who stay longer time near motor ways are the worst victims of this kind of violent effect of the air pollution. Among the motor way air pollution victims, young and middle-aged men suffer much. As those two groups of man population are the main participants in human reproduction activities, there may rise an unexpected birth rate fall in densely air polluted areas.

So think what to do with traditional motor vehicles!

Environmental pollution: A fearful future for men’s fertility (part 1 – overview)

Science is growing day by day – we are happy! Transport system is developing fast – we are happy! Advanced chemical equipments and products are bringing new opportunities – we are happy!

Stop here. Should we let us to be so happy without knowing that all of the uncontrolled use of scientific advancement can cause an eternal harm to the existence of the mankind? Yes, men’s reproductive system is in danger! Various kinds of environmental pollutions can cause low sperm count as well as abnormal sperm. This will ultimately reduce men’s fertility. Regarding this issue a full text will be published in installment. This is an overview to set readers mind to think what we are getting and what we are loosing.

As we know that air and water are the two most important elements of the environment, this discussion will concentrate only on air pollution and water pollution and will inform you how they are playing role as a threat against men’s fertility.

Hope to publish the next segment - Environmental pollution: A fearful future for men’s fertility (part 2 – air pollution) as soon as possible. Till then take care.

Rates of change in terrestrial ecosystems

"Globally, the rate of conversion of ecosystems has begun to slow largely due to reductions in the rate of expansion of cultivated land, and in some regions (particularly in temperate zones) ecosystems are returning to conditions and species compositions similar to their pre-conversion states. Yet rates of ecosystem conversion remain high or are increasing for specific ecosystems and regions.

Under the aegis of the MA, the first systematic examination of the status and trends in terrestrial and coastal land cover was carried out using global and regional datasets. The pattern of deforestation, afforestation, and dryland degradation between 1980 and 2000 is shown in Figure 1.4. Opportunities for further expansion of cultivation are diminishing in many regions of the world as most of the land well-suited for intensive agriculture has been converted to cultivation. Increased agricultural productivity is also diminishing the need for agricultural expansion.

As a result of these two factors, a greater fraction of land in cultivated systems (areas with at least 30% of land cultivated) is actually being cultivated, the intensity of cultivation of land is increasing, fallow lengths are decreasing, and management practices are shifting from monocultures to polycultures. Since 1950, cropland areas have stabilized in North America and decreased in Europe and China. Cropland areas in the Former Soviet Union have decreased since 1960. Within temperate and boreal zones, forest cover increased by approximately 2.9 million hectares per year in the 1990s, of which approximately 40% was forest plantations. In some cases, rates of conversion of ecosystems have apparently slowed because most of the ecosystem has now been converted, as is the case with temperate broadleaf forests and Mediterranean forests

Save the coastal area

World is being warm day by day. And the existing world is over flooding. Do you know how to rescue from this destruction?
1. At first we have raise the attention of this environmental changes to the general people.
2. We have to restrict the out come of carbon-di-oxide gas by burnig fuels.
3. We have to ban the use of Aerosols, inorganic fertilizers etc.
4. Tree plantation is much needed.
5. Use of polythene should be restricted.
6. Industries should take precations from the out come of the harmful gasses like Sulfar di oxide, Methane, Nitric oxide etc.
We want to feel our environment pure, want to love it wildly. Whereever we are, lets work on it, feel the nature and enjoy an amazing life.
